Voter Registration/Rights Restoration

Are You Registered To Vote or Need To Have Your Rights Restored?

In Partnership with the Maricopa County Recorders Office through the Deputy Registrar Program we would like to encourage you to Register To Vote online. Why online?

Online Voter Registration takes 24 hours to process because they use the Arizona MVD records database to ensure eligibility, while paper applications are hand entered/verified and can take up to 4 weeks to enter in the system delaying your access to your right to vote.

Your Vote Is Your Voice And Your Voice Is Your Power.

Let's Make Sure It's Heard Loud And Clear!

Rights Restoration For First Time Felons:

The law regarding the automatic restoration of civil rights (which includes the right to vote) for first time felony offenders can be found in A.R.S. § 13-907.

For felonies committed in Arizona:

If a person has not previously been convicted of a felony offense, the right to vote is automatically restored to vote when:

  • Probation has been completed, or the person is absolutely discharged from imprisonment.
  • All victim restitution fees imposed have been paid.

The person does not have to apply to the court to have the right to vote restored. Once the right to vote has been restored, the person can then register to vote.

Simply click the button below, fill out the Absolute Discharge form and email it to the address on the form.

For Restoration Of Gun Rights, Click The Superior Court Link Below:

Absolute Discharge Form

For Felonies Committed Outside The Jurisdiction Of Arizona:

For felonies committed outside of the jurisdiction of Arizona:

If a person has not previously been convicted of a felony offense, the person is eligible for the automatic restoration of the right to vote when:

  • Probation has been completed, or the person is absolutely discharged from imprisonment.
  • All victim restitution fees imposed have been paid.

The person shall file an application with the courts, and the court shall grant the application without hearing a response from the state or holding a hearing. Once the right to vote have been restored, the person can then register to vote.

Become A Deputy Registrar

This 90-minute virtual class will prepare you to conduct voter registration efforts in your community.  Interested Maricopa County voters will then be offered the opportunity to become a Deputy Registrar and volunteer at official MCRO/Elections events.  Deputy Registrar membership is optional, however.  This class is intended for anyone who will conduct voter registration as part of their civic engagement.

Becoming A Junior Deputy Registrar

The Junior Deputy Registrar program gives students ages 16-18 a chance to get involved, providing them with the tools they need to host their own voter registration drives and education events.

JDRs must have a school sponsor, and both are trained and certified to carry out the same duties as Deputy Registrars.

JDRs and their school sponsor are trained by MCRO staff. All material is provided.

  1. Find a school employee sponsor
  2. Contact the MCRO (click GET INFO)
  3. Schedule and conduct a training session
  4. Take the certification test
  5. Volunteer at school and community events
  6. Invite others to join you!
